Political Series for Vanity Fair and First Look Media
Over the past month I started work on two great political series, both directed by Field of Vision co-founder AJ Schnack. The first was NomiNation, a documentary web series for Vanity Fair which peers behind the scenes of this year’s 2016 presidential election campaigns. I had the pleasure of being brought onboard to mix the final four episodes of the series.
The second project is a six-part television miniseries called Primaries, which also chronicles the 2015/2016 US Presidential Primary campaigns and debuts at the end of September on the Fusion network.

Contemporary Color Sells to Oscilloscope, Plus an Interview with Filmmaker Magazine
I’m proud that the David Byrne concert documentary I sound edited and mixed, Contemporary Color, sold to Oscilloscope and will be released nationwide in 2017.
I was also honored to be interviewed by Filmmaker Magazine about the sound design and mix for the film, where I got to discuss the process and procedures and thoughts behind recreating the concert experience and the blend of performance and behind the scenes in my fourth collaboration with the Ross Brothers. It was a privilege to chat at such lengths with the magazine, and I’m always happy to share my experiences in sound design and mixing with an audience.

More Film Festival Wins and Appearances
Contemporary Color won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2016 Oak Cliff Film Festival, and The Boatman received Honorable Mention in the Documentary Shorts category.
Speaking is Difficult took home the award for Best Documentary Short at Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival.
The Black Belt was a finalist in The Wrap’s 2016 Shortlist, a compilation made from what the Wrap considered twelve of the best award-winning short films that premiered at a major festival within the last year, and it was an honor to be one of the films selected.

Past short film mixes that can now be found online include Jeffrey Waldron’s short film Midway, featuring one particular larger-than-life circus runaway.
As well as Bear Story, a humorous tale of a joke gone horribly, horribly wrong by J. Rick Castañeda.

Jenji Kohan, creator of Orange is the New Black, is launching an original Netflix series entitled G.L.O.W., based in part by discovering and watching the 2011 documentary GLOW: The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling that I had the pleasure of working on.
Recently Completed Work
Recently completed projects include sound design and mixing for A Life In Waves, a feature documentary about electronic music pioneer Suzanne Ciani by the GLOW directors and frequent collaborators Brett Whitcomb and Bradford Thomason. I also just wrapped mixing Jeff Malmberg and Chris Shellen’s upcoming documentary Spettacolo, about the inhabitants of a small town in Tuscany that every year turn their lives into a play. I look forward to posting more about these as they get closer to release.
I also mixed more work for the United States Army, in conjunction with the fine folks at The Institute for Creative Technologies and Psychic Bunny, multimedia learning game sound design for Mighty Play, and a handful of short films I’ll hopefully be able to post more about in my next update.
In September I begin my first foray into Virtual Reality audio design, which I’m excited for, as well as a combination of more shorts, features and TV work. Looking forward to the next post on here!
