Earnhardt Debuts on Amazon Prime
It was a tremendous thrill to sound supervise and mix the 4-part Earnhardt miniseries for Amazon Prime. It was an incredible challenge, and a creative joy, to be immersed in the world and sounds of NASCAR across the decades of Dale Earnhardt Sr’s legendary career.
Produced by Academy Award winners Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Dan Lindsay and TJ Martin, and directed by Emmy winner Josh Altman, this series was a joy to work on, and is available now on Amazon Prime.
Jerrod Carmichael’s New Standup Special on HBO
It was also an incredible pleasure to mix Jerrod Carmichael’s new standup special ‘Don’t Be Gay’ for HBO. I love Jerrod, and his brand of comedy, and it was so great to have been able to mix his HBO series ‘Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show’ last year, so I was overjoyed when they asked me to return for his latest standup special. Our team had great fun mixing and spatializing over a dozen crowd mics to set Jerrod and his audience into the theatrical space, and I’m proud of how the sound and mix turned out!
TJ Oshie Hockey Documentary COACH Premieres
In more sports documentary news, I had the privilege of sound editing and mixing the new TJ Oshie hockey documentary COACH. The film takes a look at the life and career of hockey superstar TJ Oshie, but it also focuses on his relationship with his father and his father’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Equal parts sports and family, as someone who also knows what it is like to lose a family member to Alzheimer’s I was really moved while working on this film.
COACH will have its film festival premiere at the DC/DOX Film Festival June 14th, and then continue its festival tour from there.
Emmy Nominations and Addy Awards
I’m so happy to see two projects nominated for News & Documentary Emmy awards this year, Butterfly in the Sky was nominated for Best Arts and Culture Documentary, while Bitconned was nominated for Best Business and Economic Documentary.
Butterfly in the Sky also won 4 Addy Awards for it’s animated opening title sequence, including a Silver Addy for Best Sound Design!
