Time Inc’s ‘New Orleans: Here and Now’
This past July I was in New Orleans mixing the Time Inc docuseries New Orleans: Here and Now. The project was a retrospective of New Orleans, revolving around the 10 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Comprised of 6 short documentary films by a variety of award-winning filmmakers, this series highlights a series of people living in post-Katrina New Orleans and the resurgence of the city.
The project was produced by Killer Films (Still Alice, Boys Don’t Cry) and the Field Office Films production branch off from Court 13 (Beasts of the Southern Wild). The series was executive-produced by Scott Bakula and Patricia Clarkson, and received coverage in Indiewire, Entertainment Weekly, the Hollywood Reporter and many more.
Killing them Safely gets distribution, theatrical release date
The taser documentary and police brutality exposé Killing them Safely (formerly titled Tom Swift and His Electric Rifle) has been picked up for distribution by Sundance Selects and will premiere theatrically on Nov 27th. The film premiered earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival, kicking off its film festival run.
County Fair: Texas premieres at Sidewalk Film Festival, wins Alan Hunter Award
Another documentary I mixed, the beautiful vérité film County Fair: Texas premiered in August at the Sidewalk International Film Festival, where Western and The Bad Boy of Bowling were also playing. County Fair won the Alan Hunter Award for Best Alabama Film, and the trailer can be viewed here.
Other news, premieres, and festival appearances
The short film I was Supervising Sound Editor on Rita Mahtoubian is Not a Terrorist, starring Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous, Queen of Earth) will play in the Raindance Film Festival, and is an Artios Award nominee. The producers were also selected for this summer’s Sundance Producers Lab, which is a fantastic honor. The film originally premiered at Tribeca earlier this year.
Being Evel has received amazing reviews since it’s theatrical debut last month, and is currently rated 97% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. I had a blast attending the world premiere at the Arclight Cinemas alongside director Daniel Junge and producers/stars Johnny Knoxville and George Hamilton. The film will also play in the esteemed BFI Film Festival in London next month.
Lastly, there will be more news soon regarding the Eli Roth produced horror short I mixed in October (just in time for Halloween!), along with an upcoming TV series project for Pivot and a slate of more documentary feature film mixes for the fall. Keep those faders flying!
