American Factory Wins Academy Award

It’s been an amazing year for American Factory, and its journey capped off with an Academy Award for Best Documentary. It was an absolute thrill to see directors Steve Bognar and Julia Reichert on stage accepting the golden statues, and I couldn’t be more proud to have been a creative part of the soundtrack for this film.

American Factory also won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary, picked up a Cinema Eye Award for Outstanding Achievement in Nonfiction Feature Filmmaking, was a BAFTA nominee, a Gold Derby Nominee for Best Documentary of the Decade, in addition to it’s Gotham Award Win, IDA Award Win, and Two Critics Choice Documentary Awards.

Feels Good Man Wins Sundance Award

Feels Good Man had a triumphant premiere at Sundance, picking up a Special Jury Award, which was a thrill.

The film also went on to play the Big Sky Documentary Festival, where it received an Honorable Mention in the Best Documentary awards. It will play next at SXSW in Austin in March.

Two Tribeca Film Festival World Premieres

Super thrilled to have a pair of World Premieres at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival in April!

The feature documentary Larry Flynt for President, directed by Nadia Szold, follows the Hustler Magazine millionaire’s surreal run for presidency in the 80’s. Largely composed of never-before seen footage filmed while on the campaign trail, it was also totally bonkers working on this film during a presidential campaign year.

Also premiering is the sci-fi short film Jack and Jo Don’t Want to Die, directed by Kantu Lentz, set within a cryogenic freezing facility in an alternate world where a chance meeting changes the fates of two people’s lives. I love this short, and it was such a joy to be able to sidestep into the realm of sci-fi sound design for a bit!

Advertising Mixing for Google’s Brand Studio

It was also thrilling getting to work with Google’s Brand Studio on a set of branded content documentaries. Titled The Guardians, the films follow over 3,500 female motorcyclists who embarked on the world’s largest motorcycle relay spanning the globe. The main documentary short can be seen here, and there were also a series of mixes for shorter segments, trailers, and teasers as well. It was absolutely wonderful working with directors April Hayes and Kristen Lewis and all the wonderful folks at Brand Studio.

Even More Exciting News Ahead

Between Sundance and the Academy Awards, the year certainly has felt like it started out with a bang. But I’m even more excited about the upcoming projects that I can’t wait to share about more in the months ahead! 2020 is shaping up to be an exciting year indeed! It feels funny, taking a moment to reflect when we are barely more than two months into the calendar, but ever since I was a little kid I looked up at the big screens in the movie theaters and the golden statues on the Oscars stage and dreamed of someday being a part of all that. It only feels like a short handful of years later and suddenly I’m in the middle of everything and it’s surreal. As always I couldn’t be more proud of the teammates and collaborators I’ve been lucky to work with, and all the wonderful directors, producers and projects I’ve been able to lend my ears and imagination to. I can’t wait to share some of the exciting work ahead, as well as the updates and evolution to the studio spaceship!
